Swedish House Mafia Rumoured For Ibiza 2018 Comeback

Swedish House Mafia at Pacha Ibiza in happier times & before USB sticks
It was on this blog that news of the infamous Swedish House Mafia breakup was first leaked to the general public in 2012. While many within the industry were aware of the discontent behind the scenes, the PR spin suggested that inside the SHM camp, everything was sweet and smelling of roses. Our story was ridiculed, denied by certain members of SHM and taken as fake news. Less than two months later they had split. The information for our breakup story emanated from the fallout after the Privilege/SHM deal went sour in March of that year. After months of negotiation, Privilege were left empty handed and rumours began to circulate on the island as to why it didn't happen - simply put, SHM were breaking up. Now, six years on from that huge story, Privilege are rumoured to be back in the running for a SHM comeback show this summer, with all three members of the group present and accounted for.

While the 2012 rumours had substance and logic behind them, this current SHM rumour is floating in on an offshore breeze. A few media outlets, most notabley Billboard, have already reported on this comeback rumour, associating it to a special anniversary performance at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami next month. It was also noted that the estranged Steve Angello had recently started following his ex-partners on social media again and that the official SHM twitter account had been "wiped clean", all suggesting that the game is afoot. Others outlets say a reunion is "highly unlikely" and mention another Swede Alesso as a possible collaboration.

With Ultra Worldwide promoting the Resistance parties at Privilege, SHM could be linked to that Tuesday night event, or another stand alone show, with rumours suggesting that they could play three one off shows in Ibiza this summer, one in July, August and September. Its bound to pack out the Worlds Biggest Club, especially with a summer holiday crowd supporting it. The biggest clue we will get to the reality of the Privilege shows, will be found at this years Miami Dance Festival at the end of March. If the trio make a reunited appearance together on the Florida stage, then its a strong possibility that the Ibiza shows will happen this summer and even more festivals after that will follow. With the island of Ibiza still reeling from the Cocoon and Cream news, a return of the Mafia boys, is sure to deliver a knockout punch for some.
