With a season past that he would rather forget, popular Swiss DJ, Luciano, will hope to make Ibiza 2014, a year to remember. His Tuesday residency at Ushuaia Club last summer, was probably one of the less successful days on the Ushuaia calender and may put his party under pressure to survive there, as rumours are circulating that Hardwell, Calvin Harris and Armin Van Buuren, could be possible new signings for the Ushuaia team in 2014. With hindsight, departing Pacha for Booom would probably be Lucianos biggest regret from the 2013 season in Ibiza, but his good friendship with Booom owner Giuseppe Cipriani, would have played an important part in that move. With the future of the Booom project hanging on the outcome of a court hearing on February 20th next, Luciano will have to think carefully about his plans for Ibiza 2014, as another average year on the island, will not help the long term success of his Cadenza Vagabundos party.
There is much goodwill in Ibiza for Luciano and his Cadenza Vagabundos crew and one would hope that Ushuaia will do their best to keep him, as one average season is not enough to say goodbye, but already some media outlets in Ibiza are predicting that he will leave Ushuaia. This summer, Ushuaia will unveil the refurbished Don Toni, as Europe's first Hard Rock Hotel, and there will be openings for big name DJ's to play its branded outdoor stage. From all reports, the new Hard Rock Hotel has ambitious plans to sign some star international acts for summer 2014. Its all part of the Matutes Group plan to assimilate the entertainment outlets of Playa Den Bossa into their collective, as one big monopolised adults playground. We will just have to wait and see what Ushuaia plans are for Ibiza 2014 before we know for sure, but I would expect the good relationship that Ushuaia have with Luciano, to continue in some format this summer. It is now increasingly unlikely, that he will return to Pacha, so other clubs will be keen to sign him. The new Tribal Sessions party at Sankeys, is another that has hinted at wanting to guest Luciano.
Artists Impression Of new Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza
In 2013, Igor Marijuan of Ibiza Sonica radio, spoke of a possible Luciano/Cadenza association with We Love Sundays at Space. While it did not come to fruition then, this year it has a better chance of becoming a reality. The Space Terraza would be an ideal location for Luciano and the atmosphere he creates. With the departure of We Love music programmer Mark Broadbent, the much loved party may start to go down a more commercial route musically, with Darren Hughes now in sole charge of changing the business model at We Love. I would not be surprised to see Luciano involved with the We Love party this season - maybe not as a resident, but making a number of guest appearances there. We hope to have a better idea of Luciano and Cadenzas plans for Ibiza 2014 in February, as negotiations and contracts between the clubs and the artists, begin to firm up.
