Almond Blossom Ibiza 2011

The Almond Tree in Bloom.
One of the best times to visit Ibiza, outside of the summer season, is in February, for the blooming of the Almond tree, especially around the Santa Ines Valley to the north of San Antonio. Spring is in the air as nature comes to life, regenerating itself for another season.

The Blooming of the Almond Tree is a beautiful sight and along with its sweet, fragrant scent it makes for a romantic setting. The Island is an ideal location for a romantic Valentines break which falls on Monday the 14th of February this year. The weekend before Valentines there is a hike organised from San Antonio to Santa Ines on the 6th starting at 11.30am. The weekend after Valentines, and for a more romantic atmosphere, a midnight stroll to Santa Ines will take place, setting off from San Antonio town plaza on the 19th at 8pm.

Thousands of people make the walk, stopping off at local bars and restaurants along the way. In local culture, its a sign that winter is over and the walk through beautiful landscapes helps to shed any extra pounds gained over the Christmas festivities. Its about a 15mile round trip, but its up to the individual where they start and finish. Many just walk the 4mile Santa Ines valley route.

In February, Ryanair fly direct to Ibiza on Fridays and Mondays from London Stanstead and a number of Hotels and rooms are available to book at competitive prices.
